Our Psychologist Practice specialises in the examination and treatment of concentration problems and ADHD. Your concentration problems may have a very different cause than ADHD.
With ADD or ADHD, you think of hyperactivity, concentration problems and
impulsiveness. But it is more complicated than this. Getting a correct diagnosis
is often difficult. Yet in ADHD, this is important. Even adults
have sometimes suffered with ADHD their whole life, without this having been correctly
estimated and dealt with as a child. Your doctor may conduct a physical examination
perform, and a clinical psychologist the psychological examination.
Perhaps you have problems focusing or concentrating because of a burn-out, or you can't keep your thoughts straight because of relationship problems, or you're worried about your children, or because a depression is lurking behind your concentration problems? People with an addiction to alcohol or pills, for example, also often suffer from poor concentration.
Concentration problems often go hand in hand with depression, relationship problems, anxiety attacks, burnout. Often, a concentration disorder disappears when this underlying problem is treated with psychotherapy. But conversely, ADHD is often diagnosed as depression, burnout, C.V.S., manic depressive or borderline. So it is very important to get the right diagnosis so that the right treatment can be applied. Finally, ADHD or ADD (i.e. inattentive type ADHD) may also be at the root of severe concentration disorders.
Adults can have their concentration problems examined and treated at our psychology practice Psycholoog-JoVo. A careful diagnosis helps. Our Psychologist Practice employs masters clinical psychologists with lots of experience in all these problems and many others. We can find out what is causing your concentration difficulties at short notice without much testing or high costs.
If you suspect your concentration problems are caused by AD(H)D, we have an affordable and practical online treatment programme for this. We have been treating ADD/ADHD for many years. But as mentioned, not only people with ADHD suffer from concentration problems. So before deciding on treatment for concentration problems, a careful diagnosis should be made first.
