Children sought for Research Pycnogenol in ADHD|ADD
A large-scale study is currently under way. And this from the lab NatuRa. Of the Department of Sciences at the University of Antwerp. This is done in collaboration with the UGent, Wageningen University (Nl), UZ Antwerpen, ZNA.
What does one examine in ADHD|ADD?
Clinical and Scientific research focuses on the treatment ADHD through Pycnogenol. Extraction of this drug is done from the French pine tree. The aim is to compare the treatment effects on ADHD with methylphenidate and a placebo.
ADHD|ADD treatment: research for whom and how?
A total of 144 children with ADHD|ADD between 6 and 12 years old are being studied. This study runs for 10 weeks. This involves examination of blood, urine, faeces and also questionnaires. This involves checking the behaviour of ADHD|ADD children. And also their immunity, oxidative stress and additional complaints.
ADHD research objective

The aim is to better understand the causes of ADHD and ADD. And to reduce symptoms via an adapted diet with natural supplements (rather than medication).
What can children expect from the ADHD|ADD study?
You can join the ten-week treatment for free. But you do pay for the (largely reimbursed) consultation after ten weeks. A doctor closely examines your child's health. And this over several examinations.
Free services
They provide Pycnogenol supplements free of charge (on their own initiative and responsibility). And at each of the two blood collection consultations, your child will receive two movie tickets, so four in total. A highly experienced paediatric nurse will also take the blood. Your child may not directly benefit from the study. But it may be important for children in the future.
